Chapter 47: Code, it is to code

“Please take good care of this little cutie, and it will surely reward your expectations,” said Guxin as he handed a series of items, including the Pokémon Pokédex, energy blocks, and a beginner’s trainer’s manual, to the young boy in front of him, smiling.

Perhaps some people found bugs and such creatures disgusting, but everyone had their own tastes and preferences. This young boy seemed to have a fondness for Caterpillar.

“Thank you, sir! I will make sure Caterpillar evolves into a Butterfly!” The boy flashed an innocent smile and patted the Caterpillar on his shoulder.

Not only was he determined to make Caterpillar evolve into a Butterfly, but he also harbored hopes of it becoming a Dragon someday. Although Guxin had casually mentioned it as a story, who knew if this boy would take it seriously?

Even though Caterpillar had only been sold for fifty thousand credits, it was still an additional sale, and Guxin was quite pleased with that.

“Oh my, it’s time for dinner already. The Little Runaway Café is doing quite well,” Guxin remarked as he glanced at the darkening sky outside. It was already seven in the evening.

After Ru’an sisters had left, he received four more customers, one of whom was just there to visit and play with the Pokémon. The other two had considered buying Pokémon but were frightened away by the prices. Finally, the young boy had just left, probably around fifteen or sixteen years old, but from a well-off family, judging by the credit card his father had given him.

The Little Runaway Café was doing a good job attracting customers.

“Mana, Mana~” Manaphy fluttered over and landed on Guxin’s shoulder, her voice sweetly coaxing.

She was hungry!

“Alright, little cutie, I’ll prepare dinner for you all,” Guxin said, gently pinching Manaphy’s adorable cheek, then turned and headed towards the kitchen.

He planned to make some dishes for them. While energy blocks were highly nutritious, and Pokémon loved them, a change of taste now and then was also good. As for the energy blocks, they could serve as snacks.

“Guxin, I’ll help you wash the vegetables,” Manaphy happily offered, while Diancie jumped into the kitchen excitedly, volunteering to assist.

“That would be great; thank you,” Guxin said, donning an apron and smiling.

When Lin Yun’er opened the Little Runaway App, a notification popped up. She immediately checked her subscriptions and saw a video from the content creator called “Pokémon Home.”

“‘Pokémon Battle Part Two: Battle of the Goddesses and the Campus Beauty Showdown!'” Lin Yun’er couldn’t help but burst into laughter at the title. It was quite an eccentric title.

However, Lin Yun’er clicked on the video anyway. She came in a bit late because the video’s view count was already quite high.

When Lin Yun’er opened the video, she was greeted by the sight of two extremely beautiful girls. Having watched the previous videos, Lin Yun’er immediately recognized one of them as the girl who had defeated her with her Ninetales despite Lin Yun’er’s Charmander’s best efforts.

However, this time, the girl wasn’t using her Ninetales but rather a Pokémon called Gigantant, a large-headed ant.

“So cute,” Lin Yun’er admired the Gigantant in front of Bai Qianqian. The Pokémon’s confident pose with its hands on its waist was executed skillfully; it must have been rehearsed countless times. But it really was adorable!

“Hmph, Bai Qianqian, today I’m going to teach you a lesson,” Bai Qianqian said, her voice crisp and pleasant, just like in the previous videos. However, this time, Lin Yun’er was prepared.

“Haha, Bai Qianqian, it seems even fate is on my side today!” Lin Yun’er watched with great interest, and to her surprise, this battle was quite entertaining.

But as the battle continued, Blastoise eventually met its demise…

“They can do that?” Lin Yun’er almost sprayed water everywhere. Blastoise flipping over was a nearly impossible feat, especially combined with Bai Qianqian’s triumphant laughter.

Lin Yun’er could imagine the trainer of that Blastoise being infuriated beyond belief. And it was indeed the case.

The video continued with their banter.

“Isn’t she going to stop?” Lin Yun’er couldn’t help but chuckle, remembering how Bai Qianqian had relentlessly babbled in the previous video.

But she couldn’t deny that the video was quite enjoyable. Lin Yun’er checked the progress bar and found that the video wasn’t even halfway through yet. The second battle started quickly after the first battle between the two beautiful girls.

This time, it was two boys, one of whom was the trainer who had used Ninetales to defeat Bai Qianqian’s Charmander in the previous video.

“Huh? Is that a Charmander? And that’s a new Vulpix. It’s so cute!” Lin Yun’er’s eyes lit up when she saw the Pokémon the two boys had. The battle started, but it was surprisingly one-sided.
