012: Mysterious Person, Who Exactly Are You?
“Having a good life and yet wanting to become a thief?”
A’gu gritted his teeth as he stuffed the meat into the cloth bag, even the wolf jerky, which the leader wouldn’t even eat, went in.
“It seems like I took too much.”
He looked at the cloth bag, which was almost half his height, and estimated it weighed more than a hundred pounds.
Just then, the door to the storage room opened silently.
Mu Liang slowly approached A’gu from behind, covering A’gu’s mouth with one hand, the military knife coldly pressed against his throat.
“Ugh…”
A’gu, who was still trying to struggle, froze in place, too scared to move as the cold blade touched his throat.
“Don’t move, or I’ll slit your throat.”
Mu Liang’s deep, hoarse voice rang in A’gu’s ear.
“…”
A’gu immediately raised both hands in surrender, signaling that he wouldn’t resist.
“You’re a smart man.”
Mu Liang’s voice was calm as he spoke, “If you listen to me, you’ll survive.”
“Mm!”
A’gu nodded slightly.
“Very good. As a reward for listening, I’ll give you some news.”
Mu Liang’s tone became even calmer, yet A’gu’s heart grew cold with the words that followed.
“Your leader… was already dead by the time you left. I snapped his neck.”
Mu Liang said this in a mocking tone, sending a chill down A’gu’s spine.
“…”
A’gu’s eyes widened in terror, his whole body freezing with fear, goosebumps rising all over his arms.
He had left just moments ago, and now the leader had been killed.
This could only mean one thing: the mysterious person had been in the hall at that moment!
“As you guessed, I was watching you all from the hall.”
Mu Liang’s hoarse voice confirmed A’gu’s suspicions.
From the very beginning, he had used interrogation tactics learned during his time as a special forces soldier.
“Ugh…”
A’gu muttered a vague sound.
“You’re a smart person. Don’t turn your head. Don’t make any noise.”
Mu Liang slowly released A’gu’s mouth, and the military knife was sheathed.
A’gu whispered, “Do you need me to do something for you?”
After hearing the mysterious person speak and not immediately killing him, A’gu realized the person must want something from him.
“No, I don’t need anything from you.”
Mu Liang said indifferently.
“Uh…”
A’gu was left speechless, frozen in place.
“By the way, I also killed the blood-beard’s scout.”
Mu Liang continued, in a teasing tone, “The scout didn’t return today. Tomorrow, new scouts will come. When they find out your leader is dead, what do you think the blood-beard will do?”
“Gul…”
A’gu swallowed nervously.
What else could they do? Of course, they would bring people over and turn the entire camp into spoils of war.
“This…”
Mu Liang casually lifted the cloth bag full of jerky.
As he reached the door, he turned his head and said indifferently, “I’ll keep an eye on you, smart man.”
“…”
A’gu’s face stiffened, nearly on the verge of tears.
Could he please stop watching me? I’m an idiot!
But he didn’t dare speak, let alone move.
Mu Liang ignored A’gu’s reaction. If the other party were too stupid and missed his planned cue, he would just have the three-colored lizard secretly visit and leave a claw mark as a reminder: I really am watching you.
As for the plan? It was just a spontaneous idea Mu Liang had, and the details were still being worked out.
“Food is settled, now I just need water.”
Mu Liang stayed in an empty room, waiting for the three-colored lizard to return the jerky.
“Sss~~”
The three-colored lizard didn’t make him wait long, crawling through the window.
“Minuo will probably be shocked.”
Mu Liang smirked, tying the jerky onto the lizard’s back.
He hadn’t expected to carry so much when he only came to find water.
After sending the lizard off, Mu Liang stealthily moved toward the water storage room.
The guards at the water storage room door were easy to bypass for someone who had already acquired the Invisibility ability.
Mu Liang casually threw a stone down the corridor to distract the guards.
Then, without a sound, he approached from behind and knocked out the guard with a chop to the neck.
Mu Liang cautiously opened the door to the room, finding it empty. He dragged the unconscious guard inside.
The room had torches, allowing him to clearly see the layout.
“So the underground well is here.”
Mu Liang walked to the center of the room, lifting a wooden plank to reveal a two-meter-wide water well.
Next to the well was a wooden bucket used for fetching water. The well was dark, and it was unclear whether there was any water in it.
“Splash…”
Mu Liang threw the bucket into the well, then pulled it back up, finding the water murky, with mud on the edges of the bucket.
“Looks like it’s almost dried up.”
He set the bucket back in place and covered the well again with the plank.
Since there was no water in the well, Mu Liang turned his attention to the wooden barrels stacked in the corner of the room.
Each barrel was about one meter tall and could be hugged by an adult with both arms.
“Splash~~”
Mu Liang shook one of the barrels, hearing water slosh inside. He hoisted two full barrels, one on each shoulder.
At his current strength, carrying two barrels of water was like carrying two loaves of bread.
“Take it easy, this should last for a while.”
Mu Liang left the room leisurely, carrying the water barrels.
…
Meanwhile, A’gu was still too scared to move. After all, Mu Liang had really frightened him.
Thud, thud, thud…
The sound of hurried footsteps.
Bang!
Then, the door was slammed open.
The previous maid rushed in, shouting urgently, “A’gu, the leader is dead.”
“Really dead?”
A’gu’s body, which had been tense, suddenly relaxed. His limbs felt weak as he leaned against the table.
He asked, “Where did the leader die? How did he die?”
“In the hall, his neck was snapped.”
The maid said in fear.
“The leader is dead, so he wasn’t lying to me.”
A’gu thought back to what the mysterious person had said not long ago.
His expression changed, and he hoarsely said, “So, the blood-beard’s scout is also dead.”
Escape, he had to escape immediately.
A’gu only had one thought in his mind, and he turned around to grab an empty cloth bag, starting to stuff more jerky inside.
The maid, lost and confused, asked, “A’gu, the leader is dead. Do we still need to escape?”
“…”
A’gu froze, realizing the implication.
“Oh right, the leader is already dead.”
He no longer had to rush to escape. He lowered his head, pondering his future path.
A’gu’s mind inexplicably returned to the mysterious person. Why did they specifically tell him about the death of the scout?
There must be another layer of meaning behind it.
A’gu reflected on his interactions with the mysterious person, and he absentmindedly muttered the last words:
“I’ll keep an eye on you, smart man.”
“Watch me? How would you watch me?”
“Do you watch me from the corner? Or in the crowd?”
“But I plan to escape with someone else…”
A’gu mumbled halfway before his face turned pale.
“So if I escape alone, the mysterious person will kill me?”
He understood now and knew the other person’s true intention.
A’gu turned to the stunned maid and urgently ordered, “Go call the leaders of the hunting team. I have something important to tell everyone. It concerns everyone’s lives in the camp.”
“Okay, okay.”
The maid nodded repeatedly, surprised by A’gu’s pale face. Had he been scared?
“Smart person?” A’gu self-mockingly laughed.
He had to lead everyone in the camp to escape, and that was the mysterious person’s true intention.
“Mysterious person, who exactly are you?”
