008: The Moving House
“Minuo, how does the little Xuanwu compare to the fierce beasts in your memory?” Mu Liang turned his head and asked.
He needed a reference to understand the strength of the Level 2 Rock Armored Turtle.
“Little Xuanwu?” Minuo was momentarily confused, then realized he was talking about the turtle’s name.
She bit her lower lip, thinking for a moment, and uncertainly replied, “Based on size, the little Xuanwu should be stronger.”
Mu Liang nodded. The advantage of the Rock Armored Turtle lies in its large size.
Its disadvantage is also in its size, which makes it slow and less agile.
However, the Rock Armored Turtle’s innate skill, ‘Earth Rock Thrust,’ helps compensate for the shortcomings of its large size.
“Mu Liang, can I climb onto its back to take a look?” Minuo blinked her blue eyes, eager to ask.
“Of course,” Mu Liang smiled lightly.
He conveyed to the Rock Armored Turtle the idea that the two of them wanted to climb onto its back.
“Roar~~”
The Rock Armored Turtle let out a low growl, and the long rock spikes on its shell suddenly retracted. The ground around it rose in blocks of stone, forming a set of stone steps.
“Wow! Can Little Xuanwu understand what we’re saying?” Minuo’s beautiful eyes sparkled with astonishment as she looked at the two-meter-high stone steps.
“It can understand me,” Mu Liang replied as he walked towards the stone steps and climbed onto the turtle’s back.
The rock spikes on the turtle’s back also retracted, leaving a flat area of about seven or eight square meters in the center of the shell.
The edges of the turtle’s shell left a half-meter-long ring of upward-slanted rock spikes, forming a natural barrier.
“Such thoughtfulness,” Mu Liang complimented the turtle telepathically.
“Roar~~” The Rock Armored Turtle responded with a joyful sound.
“Little Xuanwu is really smart,” Minuo exclaimed.
She climbed onto the turtle’s back and looked back to see the stone steps retracting back into the ground.
The girl looked around, examining the flat surface of the turtle’s shell.
She joked, “Mu Liang, do you think we could build a house on Little Xuanwu’s back?”
“Well, it might not be impossible,” Mu Liang replied, a sudden idea sparking in his mind.
After all, as his tamed animals increased, staying in human settlements would become inconvenient.
They couldn’t always sleep out in the wilderness.
Especially considering the turtle’s current size, if it evolved further, it would definitely grow even larger.
The back of the turtle is big enough to serve as a living space.
Seeing that Mu Liang had fallen into thought, Minuo hesitated and asked, “You don’t really want to build a house on its back, do you?”
“Not yet, the space is still too small,” Mu Liang came to his senses and smiled. “But we could set up a wooden shelter for now.”
“Are we really going to live on its back?” Minuo confirmed, excitement in her voice.
“How about having a moving house?” Mu Liang crossed his arms and raised an eyebrow. “We won’t even need to travel on foot.”
“That sounds… amazing,” Minuo cheered, jumping up in excitement. “We can travel like adventurers and explore everywhere.”
Or, she could travel while searching for her sister.
“Mu Liang, if we set up a fire pit on the turtle’s shell, do you think it will burn Little Xuanwu?” Minuo asked.
“No, the rocks will protect it,” Mu Liang reassured her.
“Mu Liang, if we bring a lot of things up, will Little Xuanwu find it too heavy?” she wondered aloud.
“Even if you added a hundred of you, it wouldn’t feel heavy,” Mu Liang leaned against a rock spike, watching the girl excitedly make plans.
He suddenly realized that having a lively and optimistic girl like Minuo by his side didn’t seem so bad.
Minuo shouted, “Mu Liang, let’s go back to the camp, I want to bring the wooden shelter over!”
“Don’t rush,” Mu Liang laughed and shook his head. “Don’t forget about the thieves attacking the camp.”
“Ah… I got so excited I almost forgot,” Minuo blushed and stuck out her tongue in embarrassment.
She walked over to Mu Liang’s side, nervously tugging at her clothes and softly said, “If it’s too dangerous, we… we can leave tomorrow.”
The girl, though kind, was also quite selfish, only concerned about the people close to her.
Minuo didn’t want Mu Liang to take risks, especially with a new life full of hope.
“There’s no danger,” Mu Liang looked up at the dim sky and saw a beam of sunlight shining down from the distance.
Before long, the sunlight was blocked by clouds.
Mu Liang was simply giving the people at the camp a warning. If they didn’t believe it, he’d leave with Minuo the day after tomorrow.
In a world like this, even kindness should be within one’s limits.
“By the way, how are things with the people at the camp? Do you have any friends?” Mu Liang wasn’t very familiar with Minuo’s social circle.
“A few people I caught small lizards with, the relationship is okay,” Minuo tilted her head and said indifferently, “I avoid the others.”
“Friends?” Mu Liang asked softly.
“Should… I guess they count,” Minuo’s gaze wandered a bit, scratching her cheek awkwardly.
She remembered the few people who had caught small lizards with her. Their haul was smaller than hers, and they even tried to steal her lizards.
As a mutant, the result was predictable. She beat them until they cried and even stole from them a few times.
After that, those people had been avoiding her.
“Looks like they’re not really friends,” Mu Liang understood the situation from her reaction.
From this, he could tell that Minuo’s past life had been tough.
So, he was her first real friend.
