- Chapter 12 - The Wine Is Complete! Time For Sales!
What did Theresa say? Lucy thought. In this world, people who were close to each other usually used each other’s names. She went towards the study and knocked on the door. She waited for a bit and then stepped inside. After seeing her, Lynn handed her the letter. Lucy smiled when she read that the nobles were shocked after learning that Lynn had given Theresa the potions. Then she saw the written contents about the beast tide.
”I have heard that the Maple Mountains’ beast tide is generally not strong. There are occasionally some powerful demons, but there is no need to worry. Theresa will send troops to support us,” she stated.
”Even against a severe wave of beasts, it does not matter. When winter comes, the half-wolf army will have at least hundreds of soldiers. The beast tide will not threaten my territory.”
Yeah,” Lucy said feeling secure. “We have the half-wolf army, and Theresa has the Orc Corps. Yet, our legion has greater loyalty to you and is way stronger.”
Lynn put the letter away and got up. He wanted to move onto the next item at hand.
”Come on. Let us go and see our wine.”
It was the fourth day, and Lynn had stirred the wine several times a day to make sure it would ferment more evenly. Since he was worried about the rain, he found a shady place with wooden shelves to store the barrels. He wanted to make sure the wine did not rot.
After looking at the cylinders, Lynn found that the bubbles had gradually decreased over time. The aroma of the wine was also getting stronger. The first time he brewed wine, Lynn was worried that it would be a failure, but the process was easier than expected. Lynn scooped out a little and fed it to Lucy.
”It tastes better than Kyle’s wine!” she said with surprise.
Lynn also tasted it. The beginning tasted of wine, and then was followed by the flavor of grapes and the sweetness of sugar. Lynn was very satisfied.
”Although it is not good wine, it is suitable for women and children to drink. It should sell for a pound for a silver coin.”
Lucy was still jumping a little from the wine’s taste.
”It is amazing. I did not think we would be able to make wine. I am looking forward to it. Can we sell it right now?”
”We will wait another day,” he said while putting the lid back on the barrel. “By then, the fermentation will be complete, and the wine will be sucked out. After the precipitation cools, the wine will be more fragrant and clear.”
”If you want to sell wine, you will need to prepare casks, right?” Lucy reminded Lynn.
”There is a carpenter in the village. I will go and tell him to make some. Fifteen casks will be enough to fill fifty pounds from the wine barrels.”
The first batch of wine, once the impurities were removed, was about eight hundred pounds. Once the carpenter heard Lynn’s order, he was in good spirits.
“I have some buckets I have made right here. I can just give them to you for free,” he said.
”No,” Lynn said while he shook his head. ”I will buy it at the normal price.”
”My Lord, you have let my children eat meat. We are willing to contribute our strength to you. The wood is not greater than you, so just take it.”
Lynn insisted on giving fifteen silver coins for fifteen barrels. The Fenglin Village’s carpenter was very good at his craft. The barrels were sturdy and made with quality wood, which made it very suitable for storing wine. The price of a silver coin for each was fair. After the purchase was complete, Lynn took a look at the wheat field. The wheat was growing very well at a rapid pace. It was already a thumb’s length high. Even in this climate it grew well. It was worthy of being called a magic crop. Lynn roughly estimated that the harvest might come in two months time.
”The weather will get colder. Will it still be harvested?” Lucy asked worriedly. Lynn did not panic.
”If there is not enough food, we will pay for it and lend it to the villagers through a loan. The next year, we will have them pay us back in the next harvest.”
Manpower was a precious resource. Lynn would rather spend his money than freeze or starve to death due to a lack of labor. After inspecting the territory, he went to look at the fire mushrooms. They were growing very strong. The Maple Mountains were a good place with few people, which resulted in an abundance of supplies and plenty of magic.
The first planted batch of mushrooms had grown out of the prototype phase, and the pattern of the flames had also enlarged. It was estimated that it would take another half a month for the plants to fully grow. Lynn would be able to get five ripe fire mushrooms by then. The other fire mushrooms also seemed to be growing well. With four greenhouses, a total of one hundred flame mushrooms were planted. The density of numbers was simply incredible.
Lynn went back to his room and recorded the planting techniques. Afterwards, he began to meditate. Today was also unsuccessful in trying complete meditation. Also, the territory needed to explore for the treasure was still far. Lynn’s land was the entire Maple Mountains, and it was a huge territory. The mountains ran from Fenglin Village all the way to the sea to the end of the mountains. It was irrational to assume Lynn would be able to search such a large swath of land for treasure right now. However, Lynn was in no hurry.
The next day, Lynn scored two hundred and fifty points. The Half Wolf Corps had already grown to thirty soldiers, but Lynn was struggling to raise them. They could hunt on their own, but the meat that Lynn brought was quickly consumed. Lynn planned on giving up on the expansion of the Half-Wolf Corps for the time being.
Right now, he wanted to continue evolving them. Lynn called over two half wolves that had already been evolved three times. He let them consume two hundred points to evolve more. In the blink of an eye, their bodies underwent dramatic changes yet again! After four evolutions, they seemed a lot more like humans. They were a little smaller, but their strength exceeded a second or third order martial arts master.
In Kyle city, the amount of third order warriors numbered less than a hundred. There were even fewer fourth order warriors, as they numbered less than ten. This was an accumulation of a hundred years of work. In just one week, Lynn already had two fighters who could rival a third order warrior! It was only a matter of time before his power was capable of crushing Kyle City. Lynn took another fifty points to evolve a three time upgraded warrior, and used up all of the gained points.
After a few minutes of packing up, Lynn went downstairs. The wine was basically finished by now. Lynn used a hollow tube made out of a branch and put it in the cylinder. He then put the other end into a smaller barrel, and with a little suction the wine flowed out of the pipe. It was a simple siphon filter. In less than half a day, the wine would have gone through a simple filtration.
Lynn let the people throw the remaining peels onto the ground as they were good for nourishment. Lynn was in no rush, and after he let them precipitate for half a day, the sediment was filtered out the same way. This would be the final state of the wine he wanted to sell. Lynn called Buno over.
”Uncle Buno, please bring these wines to a nearby town and sell them for a silver coin.”
Buno tasted Lynn’s wine, and his eyes instantly lit up.
”No problem, Lord. Leave it to me!”
