Chapter 54. Theresa’s Determination! Lynn Takes the Town of Kumori!
“Hahaha,” Theresa laughed after a short silence.
The Marquis of Tellen raised his head and looked at her. There was no sign of the elegant smile anymore.
“Is it so funny?” He asked.
“Of course,” Theresa said.
She had heard the anger in the marquis’ voice and did not retreat. Instead, she pressed on.
“The Kyle family and Trellen wanted to join forces against Lynn, but failed. Is it not funny?”
“Are you provoking me?”
“I am just telling you the facts.”
Tellen narrowed his eyes.
“The Kyle family thinks that Lynn has insulted their blood and reputation, and will inevitably kill Lynn at any cost.”
“Heh,” Theresa chuckled with disdain. “A genius who has reached three thousand mana points at the age of sixteen would be an honor to any family. The so called insults to their blood is simply because they are afraid of his, Lynn’s, talent and are jealous.”
Tellen did not deny her words, but instead continued.
“You still want to protect Lynn?”
“Yes,” Theresa said in a firm voice.
Tellen stared her in the eyes.
“When Lynn continues to grow stronger, they may ask me to take action. Do you still want to continue your support then?” He threatened.
Theresa did not breathe for thirty seconds in the face of the Marquis’ threat, but she did not avoid his gaze.
“If that day is to come, I will protect Lynn in accordance with the laws of the Empire and the treaty of the Northern Nobles.”
The Marquis’ eyes turned cold.
“You have not gone over to the sea in three years. Pack up your army, and in fifteen days send them out to the east. There is a war between the Holy Empire and foreign races. You will be the reinforcement, alright?”
“You want to consume my army.”
“Yes, but this is legal. Theresa, you will not violate the laws of the Empire, right?”
Theresa became silent for a moment before answering.
“Yes, Lord Marquis.”
Tellen stood up.
“In your eyes, I am not worthy of you. Theresa, Lucy is not your daighter, so it is stupid to oppose me for her and Lynn.”
“Lucy is my daughter,” Theresa said plainly.
Tellen clicked his tongue and began to mock her.
“You went abroad at twelve years of age and brought Lucy back in just three months. You do not have a husband, and she was not born to you. You may be able to conceal this from others, but you cannot hide this from me.”
“My Lord Marquis,” Theresa said coldly, ”The war is over. You can leave.”
“I am very curious whose blood runs through Lucy’s veins. I am also curious as to why you are willing to die for her and Lynn.”
“Do not make me say it a third time Marquis! You can leave now!”
Tellen turned and left. Theresa’s maid walked up to her to address her.
“What should I do? Are you really going to fight abroad?”
“I have an obligation to fight the Holy Empire once every three years,” Theresa said with a nod.
“He only wants to consume your troops. If you continue to protect Lynn, there will be a battle between you two sooner or later,” the maid pointed out.
“I know. But I am in no hurry. Frost Maple’s combat power is not weak, and the Duke has his eyes on him. He would not dare to lose his forces to me. He would wait a few more years before he would go to war with me.”
“Do you wish to tell Master Lynn about this? He is growing very fast and we may need his help.”
Theresa dismissively waved her hand.
“I can still protect him. Do not tell him about this.”
“Understood. I will deal with the matters of the territory, so please rest assured that you can bring your troops to war. You should be back in about three months?”
“If I can come back alive, three months is good enough. Send the second Frost Maple Legion! Be ready to go!” Theresa began to actively prepare for war.
A day later outside of Kumori town, Lynn and his warriors arrived near the city. Under the hazy morning light, Lynn could see the stone wall and felt at ease. It was as Lynn thought. The territories that do not deal in business would not spend very much money to repair their walls. The half beasts were enough to destroy the walls with their fists.
“Come on!” Lynn ordered. “Break it down! Do not kill any of the civilians who have given up their resistance. All members of the Kumori family are to be killed!”
“Yes!” the warriors said as they charged forward.
Their powerful bodies were like a sledge hammer that knocked down the stone wall. The civilians inside the territory were awakened in an instant. Lynn rode on horseback into the city and gave his announcement.
“I am the lord of the Maple Mountain Range, Lynn. I have come to conquer the Kumori village. Civilians, stay at home and do not panic. I say again, do not come out!”
The civilians shivered in fear and could not muster any will to step outside. Lynn glanced around the area. The town was not small, but the common people were not rich and the houses were mostly lengthy in size. In the middle of the territory was a luxurious castle, even more so than Ino’s castle.
Lynn led his army all the way to the castle without a single obstacle. Kumori’s army must have been wiped out in the previous battle as there were no soldiers in the town. Lynn took his legion and crashed into the castle. Kumori’s family knew that Lynn was approaching and tried to frantically escape. Lynn led his troops into the castle and noticed that there was one girl who tried to plead with him.
She was one of Klizi’s girls and she begged Lynn not to kill her. She was willing to become his maid and serve him, but he mercilessly killed her anyways. Killing people with a sword did not cause too much pain to the receiver of the blade. Lynn also did not humiliate her corpse. Lynn was determined to kill everyone no matter who they were. Even beautiful women would not move him or cause him to care.
The castle was quickly cleaned up, so Lynn asked the warriors to take all of the corpses and bury them. Then, Lynn fully delved into the castle looking forward to the treasures it contained. The Kumori family had been in charge of the wine making business for many years and even though the lives of the commoners were not great, the leaders were living a lavish lifestyle. The heads of the family did not regard the common people as human beings and squeezed the wealth out of their lands.
Lynn had a hunch that this time he should be able to make a fortune. The first floor was where all of the servants live, so of course there was nothing of note there. Lynn went up to the second floor and entered the first room. He opened the drawer of a nearby table and found fifteen gold coins. Fifteen coins just tossed away?! Are they this rich?!
