Chapter 16: Sweeping Through—Unstoppable Killing Force!
After looting the four fresh corpses, Yang Yi exhaled slowly as the system notifications echoed in his mind.
Ding!
[Congratulations, host! You have obtained four years of condensed cultivation and forty additional years of lifespan.].
Though there were no extraordinary rewards, he knew that even the smallest gains were significant. If he continued accumulating cultivation time, he could one day break through to late-stage Dark Jin in a single surge. Breaking into Dark Jin was not simple. Unlike the previous stages, it required an immense amount of blood energy to refine and solidify the power within. Without rare herbs or spiritual treasures, he could only rely on ordinary food to slowly replenish his strength.
To make matters worse, his Supreme Tyrant Bone was constantly absorbing his Dark Jin energy, refining it into an even stronger force. This only made his progress more grueling, as his energy reserves were always being depleted at an alarming rate. Thankfully, he had the system’s condensed cultivation. Without it, this world alone might not have been enough to sustain his monstrous bone structure. The lifespan he accumulated was also crucial. The stronger he got, the more he realized that longevity was just as valuable as power.
“If I didn’t have the system, I wouldn’t even live long enough to fully develop the Supreme Tyrant Bone.”
Still, despite the draining process, the benefits were undeniable. The energy refined by the Tyrant Bone was far more potent than ordinary Dark Jin. It was wild, domineering, and terrifyingly resilient. More importantly, it was also strengthening his physical body. Every time his Dark Jin circulated through his Tyrant Bone, his muscles and bones absorbed its power, making him stronger, tougher, and more unshakable. And this was just the beginning.
Right now, only one bone in his body had fully transformed into a Tyrant Bone. If he continued refining himself, one day, his entire skeletal structure would evolve into a complete Tyrant Bone framework. At that point, he wouldn’t even need to fight. His mere presence would exude such an oppressive aura that weaker enemies might collapse under the pressure alone.
“No doubt, Xiang Yu, the Western Chu Overlord, must have been born with a Supreme Tyrant Bone as well.”
The thought made Yang Yi pause. How many Tyrant Bones did Xiang Yu possess? And if Xiang Yu had also inherited his famous double pupils, then his combat strength must have been beyond comprehension.
Yang Yi’s gaze darkened slightly. “If he truly had such power, then after his death, his grave must contain incredible secrets.” If he had the chance, he would personally excavate Xiang Yu’s tomb. Perhaps he could even obtain the legendary double pupils for himself. They say that double pupils grant unparalleled battle instincts. I wonder how much of that is true.
Shaking off his thoughts, he turned to Meng Jiangnv and spoke calmly. “We’ll leave these corpses for now. I’ll bury them later.” She nodded in understanding, and the two of them continued down the corridor. However, after walking for quite some time, they still hadn’t encountered any more survivors. Something was wrong.
Meng Jiangnv frowned. “Husband, I think that last man’s screams must have alerted the others. They might be banding together.”
Yang Yi smirked, gripping his halberd tightly. “It doesn’t matter. This weapon alone is enough to sweep through the entire corridor.”
His tone was calm but brimming with confidence. As if in response, his blood energy surged, sending an invisible wave of pressure through the air. His aura changed—becoming heavier, more oppressive. It was the aura of an apex predator, of a sovereign warrior standing above all others.
Meng Jiangnv, standing behind him, felt her heart tremble slightly. Her eyes softened as she watched his broad back. This was the kind of man a woman could rely on, a man who could shelter her from the storm and carve a path forward with his own hands. A small, almost imperceptible smile appeared on her lips.
If I must marry, then let it be him. How lucky I am that my first husband vanished before I could meet him.
……………………………………………………………………………
Her thoughts were interrupted as Yang Yi’s voice reached her ears. “Wait here,” he said. Snapping back to the present, she followed his gaze toward the corridor ahead.
A large group of people had gathered, blocking the passageway. At a glance, there were at least twenty of them. Most were empty-handed, though a few carried makeshift weapons—sharp rocks, wooden planks, and blood-stained bricks. The blood on their weapons made it clear that they had already killed before. Their eyes carried a mixture of fear and desperation. They had run out of options.
“Stop right there!” a voice bellowed.
“If you take another step forward, we’ll kill you!”
The speaker was a broad-shouldered, bearded man who looked to be in his forties. Though his words were bold, his hands were trembling slightly.
They weren’t confident—they were cornered beasts, ready to bite only because they had no other choice. Yang Yi stopped, studying them for a moment before speaking.
“There’s no need for this. You’re all going to die anyway.”
His tone was calm, indifferent. Even as twenty sets of eyes glared at him, he looked at them like they were already corpses.
“You all know it’s true,” he continued. “Even if you kill me, how much longer will you survive? You were already hunting each other before I arrived—why band together now?”
His words cut deep, stirring the fear buried in their hearts. A suffocating silence fell over them.
“Shut up!!” The bearded man roared, breaking the silence. “Drop your weapon!” he demanded. “If you don’t, we’ll tear you apart with our bare hands!” His aura was strong—he was at least late-stage Ming Jin, maybe even at the peak.
Yang Yi smirked slightly. His killing intent thickened, his grip tightening around the war halberd.
“Fine. I promise you this—once I kill you, I’ll give you a proper burial.”
“At least I won’t drink your blood or eat your flesh.”
Without waiting for a response, he charged forward. His speed exploded, kicking up a violent gust of wind. To the stunned onlookers, it was like watching a wild beast pounce on its prey. His halberd swung in a devastating arc, cutting through the stale underground air with a deafening whoosh.
“STOP HIM!!” the bearded man roared. The survivors threw their makeshift weapons and rushed forward, driven by pure desperation.
But they were too slow. The war halberd descended mercilessly.
“Sweeping Thousand Armies!”
Slash!
A wave of crimson mist filled the air. The entire front row was obliterated. Bodies split apart, blood splattered across the stone walls, and limbs were flung into the air like broken dolls.
“Strike!”
The halberd did not stop. Each swing sent bodies flying, their bones shattering on impact. Yang Yi wasn’t defending himself. He was crushing them. Tearing through them like a plow through soft earth. His Tyrant Bone-infused energy surged, nourishing his body even as he fought, making him stronger with every kill.
And this was just the beginning.
Tonight, I will annihilate them all. I will sweep through this corridor, and by the end of it— No one else would be left standing.
