Villain: Without morals, you can't be manipulated! - Chapter 39
Chapter 39 The Changing Diary
“Lan Yuxi, you wouldn’t want everyone to find out about you cheating, would you?”
As soon as Qi Lin finished saying those words, Qi Xueyao’s diary was rewarded to him.
Late at night, as silence filled the air, Qi Lin lay on his bed, flipping open Qi Xueyao’s diary.
It still recorded events that had yet to happen.
“September 29, 2002.”
“That damn Qi Lin has no respect for me as his cousin anymore. The way he looks at me now is completely different from before.”
“Just because I took an ice cream from the fridge, he yelled at me and even suggested I trade myself for food.”
“If I had the money to rent a place, I would’ve moved out ages ago and never put up with his nonsense again.”
Qi Lin paused for a moment after reading that.
By logic, he shouldn’t have appeared in Qi Xueyao’s diary at all—after all, in his past life, he was practically invisible.
“Could it be that the diary updates itself based on changes in reality? Because I bullied Qi Xueyao earlier, she wrote about me in tomorrow’s diary entry?”
Suddenly, Qi Lin understood. A glint of realization flashed in his dark eyes.
“Heh, making it into Qi Xueyao’s diary is a good start.”
“As expected, whether it’s a simp or a so-called nice guy, they never leave a lasting impression on a woman. Only those who have bullied her are ‘lucky’ enough to be remembered.”
At this moment, Qi Lin was more convinced than ever that his strategy was right.
With a smirk, he continued reading.
“Today, I resigned from my teaching job without telling my parents. I’ve decided to start a business with Jiang Lei and carve out a future for ourselves.”
“China’s economy is undergoing massive changes. Material wealth alone can no longer satisfy people’s needs. More and more people are studying abroad and traveling.”
“Jiang Lei and I both believe this is the perfect time to establish a training center, an educational institute to start a nationwide English-learning movement. If we succeed, we can escape our small-town lives and rise to the middle or upper class—maybe even become elites in China.”
“The only thing is, my parents can’t find out.”
“They’ve spent their whole lives in a small city, valuing stability above all else. They just want me to be a good teacher, marry someone with a stable job, and live a peaceful life.”
“If they knew I’d already quit, they’d be furious. They might even come to Jianghan City to drag me back home.”
“This is my one shot. If I succeed, I’ll be as rich as Qi Lin’s family, and I’ll never have to put up with that bastard again.”
“And when he eventually falls from grace, I’ll make sure to humiliate him properly.”
That was the end of the diary entry.
Qi Lin: “…”
“Damn, I never even bullied you in my past life. If anything, you freeloaded off my family all the time. And just because my dad refused to lend you money once, you suddenly started hating us? What kind of lousy character do you have?”
Qi Lin raised a middle finger in disdain towards Qi Xueyao’s diary. Closing the book, a sharp gleam flashed in his eyes.
“So she quit her teaching job behind her parents’ backs? Bold move.”
In 2002, most parents still clung to the belief that a secure government job was the best path in life. The massive layoffs from state-owned enterprises had only happened a few years prior, so most parents just wanted their kids to find a stable career.
Teachers, government employees, and state-owned enterprise jobs were still the dream for many. Qi Xueyao had managed to land a coveted teaching position in Jianghan City—a provincial capital, no less. And she just quit?
If her parents found out, they’d probably break her legs.
“Then again, people’s success is often determined by their level of risk tolerance. If she hadn’t quit and started her own business, she never would’ve become the queen of the education industry in my past life.”
Qi Lin’s lips curled into a smirk.
“But that was in the past.”
“This time around, Qi Xueyao is destined to be nothing more than a plaything in my hands. There’s no way I’m letting her grow into a powerful woman again.”
After reading the diary, a plan began to take shape in Qi Lin’s mind—one specifically designed to crush Qi Xueyao’s ambitions.
