Northern Myanmar: Bloodshed in the Golden Triangle, Have I Become a General? - Chapter 45
Chapter 45: Zhao Renzhou’s Bounty – 50 Million?
Che Xiu wore a grim expression and kicked aside a nearby chair. Dealing with Zhao Renzhou was essential; otherwise, their Shan ethnic armed forces would become a laughingstock.
But dealing with him also meant the risk of more fires being set.
Suddenly, one of the leaders made a proposal, “Chieftain, what if we seek assistance from the drug traffickers in the border towns to deal with Zhao Renzhou?
We could offer them some money. It’s not just Zhao Renzhou; there are other drug traffickers in the seven border towns, and even the major drug lord in Kachin State, Min Din, has some international recognition.
Maybe we could spend some money to have him resolve this matter.”
Min Din, who had risen to prominence in recent years, was one of the most prominent figures in Kachin State. The Shan ethnic armed forces had heard of his rags-to-riches story. He used to be a freelancer internationally, working in various capacities.
Min Din, who had turned his hand to various illicit activities, including arms trafficking and human trafficking, and had even run casinos and manufactured drugs, had ultimately settled down in the Golden Triangle due to the immense profits in the drug trade.
He not only had an extensive network of contacts from his earlier years but was currently the biggest drug lord in Kachin State.
His influence extended throughout the region, except for the remote and impoverished border towns. Min Din had become the undisputed kingpin of the underground world in Kachin State, at least according to external perceptions.
However, the Shan ethnic armed forces viewed him as nothing more than a drug trafficker.
Nonetheless, seeking Min Din’s help was undoubtedly the best option.
While they could handle a fire being set, taking on a fellow drug lord would be an all-out battle. Che Xiu stood there with a dark expression, seemingly lost in thought. His subordinates remained silent, waiting patiently.
After a long pause, Che Xiu’s gaze turned deep, and he looked at the person who had made the suggestion.
“Go contact Min Din.”
“No matter how much it costs,” Che Xiu declared, “as long as Zhao Renzhou’s head is brought to us, we can work things out. In the future, Kachin State will be under our control.” Che Xiu was resolute.
Once Zhao Renzhou’s head was delivered, he would immediately send his men to eliminate all the drug lords in the seven border towns.
Previously, the presence of government troops had hindered their efforts to deal with these individuals. But now, with such a daring character like Zhao Renzhou on the scene, Che Xiu would not tolerate the emergence of a second one. Absolutely not.
In northern Myanmar, in the outskirts of a city, in a villa nestled against the mountains and overlooking a river, Min Din sat on a sofa dressed in black casual attire.
He watched the television broadcast about the firefighting efforts. The broadcast also featured the so-called “Golden Triangle Security Group.” At that moment, one of his subordinates approached and began to report.
“Boss,” the subordinate began, “we’ve received a message from the Shan ethnic armed forces. They want us to deal with Zhao Renzhou. They’re willing to pay any amount as long as we deliver Zhao Renzhou’s head.”
“They’re also proposing future cooperation to completely control Kachin State, making it a shared domain between us and them.”
Min Din chuckled lightly. “Deliver Zhao Renzhou’s head? They’re trying to catch a tiger by its tail, it seems. If they want to settle scores with an enemy, they should show some sincerity. Tell them if they want Zhao Renzhou’s head, they should offer 50 million first.”
His subordinate’s eyes widened in surprise. “Fifty million…?”
“Yes,” Min Din affirmed. Internally, he couldn’t help but think, “Is this guy really worth 50 million? Even high-ranking politicians don’t come with this price tag.” Sensing his subordinate’s hesitation, Min Din added, “Do you think he’s not worth 50 million?”
His subordinate hesitated for a moment and replied, “Well, I suppose he might not be worth that much…”
Min Din suddenly chuckled while keeping his eyes fixed on the television.
“Oh, he’s worth it,” he said. “I see shades of myself in him. I’ve learned something in my adventurous life.
Zhao Renzhou, at such a young age, has already grasped the art of starting a company, dividing industries, staying behind the scenes, and going legit.”
Min Din saw in Zhao Renzhou a more ruthless and daring version of himself. His subordinates, with control over three towns, dared to set fire to the Shan ethnic armed forces.
Min Din admitted that he wouldn’t have taken such a risk. If this young man continued to grow and develop, he would undoubtedly become a significant threat. However, despite the potential threat, business was business.
Since they were both following similar paths and were fellow citizens of the Dragon Nation, Min Din believed that Zhao Renzhou was a smart individual.
They could potentially cooperate in the future. However, if the Shan ethnic armed forces were willing to pay for Zhao Renzhou’s head, it would change the equation entirely.
Car Hu couldn’t believe it, so he double-checked with his subordinate, who nervously nodded. Car Hu was so infuriated that he began firing his pistol into the air repeatedly.
“Are they all insane?” he roared. “Why aren’t these Dragon Nation people dropping dead one by one? Five million? Is Zhao Renzhou really worth that? Does he deserve it? Is Min Din himself worth that?”
Car Hu’s outrage was palpable. The audacity of the offer had clearly pushed him to the brink of his temper. The idea that someone would value Zhao Renzhou’s life at such a high price left him incredulous and fuming.
