Chapter 46. Hunt the Lizard! Scary Magic Control!
Lynn had already figured out the route his army would take in advance. All of the half beast warriors followed behind Lynn and skillfully crossed the forest at an advanced pace. Along the way, Lynn also wanted to capture some beasts as they could be evolved. However, there were no such large beasts around this area. Even though he did not encounter any beasts, Lynn did find a monster. It was a Tier one monster, but it would be enough for now as a small gain.
The group continued to explore while moving forward and when the sun was settling in the west, Lynn found the iron ore once again. As he approached the ore, Lynn tightly held the magic sword in his hand. Lynn was fully focused on the task at hand. No matter what direction the lizard launched an attack from, Lynn would be able to react. However, the monster seemed to be absent.
“Go and search that hill for iron,” Lynn ordered.
The iron ore would be easy to mine. According to the System, you could see the iron by digging through the soil that was above it. The half beast warriors moved with incredible speed. In moments, about a meter of soil was unearthed and a hard red stone was exposed to the daylight.
“Master Lynn,” Buno started. “The lizard you mentioned seems to be absent. Should we bring some of the ore and go back for the day? Night is approaching, and our fighting skills in the dark is lacking.”
Lynn shook his head in response.
“We want to be able to mine this iron safely. We must get rid of the monster, lest it will cause us more trouble when it returns. I want to kill it before we return.”
Buno glanced up at the sky.
“Then we will have to find it as soon as possible.”
“Let’s go!” The warriors volunteered.
“It must be nearby. Let’s search for it separately.”
“Master Lynn, please wait here for a moment. We will find it for you soon!”
“You do not need to look for it at all,” Lynn said. “Iron ore cannot attract monsters. You just need to find potions or the monster’s lair by sensing magical fluctuations. You can bring back the corpse then.”
“So before you came here, you had already thought of a countermeasure,” Buno said in reverence.
Lynn was not a complacent man, and addressed Buno.
“Uncle Buno, you need to think more.”
Buno bowed to show that he will take more considerations in the future. Lynn closed his eyes and began to perceive the magic in the air as carefully as he could. Not even a moment later, he opened his eyes.
“Come with me,” he ordered.
The group bypassed the hills and entered the woods. Lynn felt the presence of a potion hidden in a bush. He reached his hand out as he wanted to see what type of magic it contained. Then, Lynn suddenly felt a burst of violent magic.
“Be careful! It is coming!” he roared.
Lynn’s reaction was quick as he condensed his magic into a dense fireball. He then launched it in the direction of the lizard. The distant lizard jumped out of the jungle and avoided Lynn’s Starfire Fury.
“So fast!”
Lynn’s heart was beating fast and his fingers trembled. This was the most powerful enemy he had encountered so far. Its speed was so fast that Lynn could not control Starfire Fury fast enough to match it. Calm down! Lynn forcibly suppressed the excitement and fear in his heart to observe the movements of the lizard.
Despite the monster’s quick movements, as long as it moved in a pattern it could be caught. The half beast warriors were excellently trained and formed a circle to protect Lynn. The remaining one hundred warriors rushed into the fray. The lizard suddenly opened its mouth and purple electricity charged up inside it.
“Dodge!” Lynn ordered in a loud manner.
At the same time, he condensed magic for a second time to attack the lizard! It sensed the danger from the spell and decisively gave up on its magic attack to escape again. This time Lynn had already predicted the lizard’s path and accordingly led the path of his spell. The spell scorched the lizard’s body leaving a deep burn mark on the area of impact.
“Start running!”
With a single blow landed the warriors became a little excited and slowed down their movements. The speed of a Class three monster was too fast, so the warriors allowed it time to recover. With Lynn’s order, the warriors became alert once again. This came too late as the lizard already was charging forward.
A half beast warrior was caught and was desperately keeping the upper and lower jaws of the monster open with both hands. Lynn still moved the fastest and used a third spell in an instant. The Archfiend Lizard was forced to abandon its prey and spat it out. The monster then moved away. Many of the warriors moved in the direction of their injured friend, but the Lizard rushed right at Lynn this time.
Buno ran to Lynn and tried to protect him with his body as fast as he could. Lynn’s breath was caught in his throat as the monster was moving at an even greater speed than before. It was hiding its true speed all this time.
Lynn was surrounded by his rank three warriors, but their strength was still lacking. They had no time to attack and instead used their lives to protect Lynn. He rapidly judged the situation and found that the speed and power of this lizard was too strong. If it was to successfully launch its attack, Lynn and all of the warriors would perish.
Lynn clenched his teeth and his eyes grew bloodshot. Out of fear, Lynn had a fury flowing through his chest. He would not run. You want to kill me?! Do you think you have the ability to?! Between his state of life and death, Lynn condensed a huge fireball.
Since the lizard was attacking in a straight line, it became much easier to hit it, however it long expected this and changed its direction at the sight of the fireball. This was a useless action as there was a second red light in front of the monster now. Lynn could control two spells at the same time?!
Before the monster had time to figure out what was happening, it was struck by Lynn. An explosion sounded out through the forest and the lizard was knocked down to the ground. It was not dead yet, and tried to escape.
“Catch it!! Just kill the thing!” Lynn said in anger.
Even though the lizard had not died, its speed was greatly reduced. This allowed it to be surrounded by the warriors in a timely fashion. The warriors punched the lizard out of anger and killed it in a short amount of time. Lynn sat on the ground and gasped for air. We won! The iron ore now belonged to Lynn. There was also an unexpected gain: a potion!
