Chapter 31: From Now On, You are My Wife
“I’m asking you, do you know me?”
“I… I don’t.” Feng Siruo looked at him seriously, her eyes full of panic.
But she still couldn’t recognize who this person was.
Or rather, maybe she had never met him at all.
After all, this was essentially the first real day of the new semester.
She hadn’t even been to class yet. She just stayed in the dance studio or in the dorm.
How could she possibly know some random guy?
Jiang Zhou gave a small smile. “Don’t be scared. We haven’t met yet. It’s normal you don’t recognize me.”
Feng Siruo’s eyes began to turn red, like she was on the verge of tears.
He was still asking even though she didn’t know him. What kind of person was this?
Seeing her like this, Jiang Zhou didn’t dare go too far.
He let go and adjusted his military training uniform, looking quite gentlemanly.
“Sorry, got a bit excited just now. Couldn’t control my emotions.
“Let me introduce myself. I’m Jiang Zhou, from Finance Class 3. We’re classmates.”
Feng Siruo let out a small breath of relief and nodded lightly.
Since he said they were classmates, he probably wasn’t some weirdo… right?
She lifted her head and stole a quick glance at Jiang Zhou.
He was looking directly into her eyes. “I’m here to tell you something really important. Want to hear it?”
The moment he said “important,” Feng Siruo immediately nodded.
She assumed he came on behalf of the school for something serious.
“W-what is it?”
“You’re going to be my wife from now on, understand?”
Feng Siruo’s eyes went wide as she shook her head furiously.
Jiang Zhou pushed her gently back to the wall. “Shaking your head won’t change anything.”
“…”
“Say something.”
“Why are you bullying me?”
Jiang Zhou blinked. “I’m not bullying you. This is a confession, don’t you get it?”
Feng Siruo stared at him blankly. “I don’t.”
“That’s okay. I’ll do it a few more times and you’ll understand.”
“No!” This time, Feng Siruo was truly scared.
She was extremely introverted and usually kept a low profile.
But that didn’t mean she was stupid.
Of course she knew what a confession meant.
This guy was a creep! He just wanted to take advantage of her!
At that moment, the door to the dance studio suddenly opened.
A girl in a dance outfit stepped out.
She glanced at Feng Siruo. “Junior, why are you out here again? Everyone’s waiting for you.”
Feng Siruo hesitated for a second. “There were too many people inside… I couldn’t breathe.”
“The welcome gala’s about to start. You can’t keep everyone waiting for you. Get back in there.”
“I really can’t breathe. It’s not a figure of speech.”
The upperclassman looked impatient. “Where are you from, huh? Why are you so delicate?”
Jiang Zhou’s face instantly darkened.
He knew Feng Siruo had mild social anxiety.
What she said wasn’t just emotional expression, it was a physical reaction.
Social anxiety was a real condition.
It could lead to panic, shortness of breath, even heart palpitations.
And who the heck is this woman, anyway?
Why is she talking so harshly?
Jiang Zhou turned to Feng Siruo. “It’s okay, just catch your breath here. Go back when you’re feeling better.”
Feng Siruo glanced at him, hesitated for a second, then nodded.
Just as she did, the senior frowned.
“You’re in a military uniform. You’re a freshman, right?”
Jiang Zhou nodded. “I’m her husband. She has social anxiety. Let her rest.”
Feng Siruo bit her lip.
Why does he keep saying he is my husband?
Is this guy a total freeloader?
The dance girl sneered. “Nowadays, nine out of ten people claim to have social anxiety. So why didn’t she have it when she started dating?”
Jiang Zhou straightened up and stared at her. “Nine out of ten people have a dad too. Did you not get one? Is that why you weren’t taught manners?”
“What did you say?! Did you just say I wasn’t raised properly?”
“You’re the one who said it.”
The girl nearly exploded. “You’re just a freshman! How dare you talk to an upperclassman like this?!”
Jiang Zhou was about to clap back when he suddenly felt his sleeve being tugged.
Feng Siruo, sitting on the floor, looked up at him, clearly trying to stop him.
He had seen this look from her countless times in his past life.
He knew exactly what it meant — don’t make a scene.
That was just who she was.
She didn’t like trouble. Didn’t want attention.
Jiang Zhou took a deep breath. “Senior, I was wrong just now. But did you even ask her if she wanted to perform at the gala?”
“She’s a student of Shangjing University. She should have a sense of collective honor.”
“And that means ignoring her health?”
The upperclassman sneered. “You really care about your girlfriend, huh? But since you pissed me off today, I’ll make sure to ‘take care’ of her.”
Jiang Zhou thought for a second. “Not girlfriend, wife.”
“Oh, wow. Calling her ‘wife’ already. Did you two get married or something?”
“We did. In a past life.”
“You’re crazy.”
Jiang Zhou paused. He realized this wasn’t going to be resolved peacefully.
This woman wasn’t just aggressive, she was petty.
If Feng Siruo kept performing in this welcome gala, she’d definitely get bullied.
Just thinking about it made him want to throw hands, so he pulled out his phone and opened a chat with Han Rou.
“Sis, come to the fifth floor of the Dance Academy. I need you.”
“What for?”
“Something good. You’ll see. Just hurry.”
“Hmph, you won’t even buy me food, now you say it’s something good!”
Right after he sent that, the upperclassman turned to glare at Feng Siruo again.
Before, she was at least pretending to be polite.
Now, after dealing with Jiang Zhou, she was fully showing her true face.
“Are you dead or what? If not, get back in there and train.”
Feng Siruo tried to get up using the wall for support.
But Jiang Zhou didn’t let her. “Rest a little more. No rush.”
“I should go…”
“Listen to me. Your health comes first.”
Feng Siruo looked at him. Somehow, she slowly squatted back down.
That was it. The senior snapped.
What is wrong with today’s freshmen?
So spoiled! Must’ve been pampered at home too much.
Well, time to teach them how to respect their upperclassmen.
“Stand up!” The senior rolled up her sleeves and strode forward, ready to grab her.
But her hand wasn’t reaching for Feng Siruo’s shirt. She went straight for her long, thick black hair!
Jiang Zhou immediately stepped in front of Feng Siruo.
Trying to bully his woman in front of him?
Oh, that was bold.
If he was really a thug, he’d have thrown hands already.
“Move.” Jiang Zhou looked her dead in the eyes. “Get lost.”
And just like that, the two stood nose to nose, locked in a staring contest.
—
Three minutes later…
Han Rou stepped out of the elevator.
The senior girl immediately switched on a smile. “Senior Han, what brings you here?”
“I’m looking for my Big Brother.”
“Huh? Your brother is here too?”
